Telehealth in Alberta

Residents of Alberta can access licensed telehealth for weight management, sexual health, hair loss, skincare and general prescriptions. Every provider listed on this site works with clinicians licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), the body that sets the standard for virtual prescribing in AB.

AHCIP covers physician-billed telehealth. Weight loss, hair loss and ED programs are typically paid out of pocket or through private benefits. Every provider we list for this province has been checked against that regulator before appearing here.

Because Canadian telehealth is regulated provincially rather than federally, coverage is not uniform across the country. Our guide to Canadian telehealth regulation explains what a clinician must do before prescribing to you, and how to verify their licence in about a minute.

Treatment Categories Available in AB

Major Centres in Alberta

Telehealth coverage is provincial, not municipal — availability in Calgary, Edmonton is the same as anywhere else in AB. Delivery time is the only practical difference, and remote addresses can take longer than the one-to-two-day standard advertised for urban centres.

Prescription notice

GLP-1 medications, finasteride, NAD+ injections and the other treatments compared on this site are prescription-only in Canada. A prescription is issued only when a clinician licensed in your province determines it is clinically appropriate for you. Approval is never guaranteed.

Provider independence

Healthcare services are provided by independent third-party telehealth providers. All clinical and prescribing decisions are made solely by each provider's licensed clinicians, not by TelehealthProviders Canada.

Alberta Telehealth FAQ

Is online healthcare legal in Alberta?+
Yes. Virtual care is regulated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), which requires the clinician treating you to hold a licence in Alberta and to collect a medical history sufficient to prescribe safely. You can verify any clinician on the College's public register.
Does AHCIP cover online consultations?+
AHCIP covers physician-billed telehealth. Weight loss, hair loss and ED programs are typically paid out of pocket or through private benefits. Every provider we list for this province has been checked against that regulator before appearing here.
Which telehealth providers serve Alberta?+
Felix Health, BirchRx, Direct Meds, MyRocky currently serve Alberta. Coverage changes, so confirm on the provider's own site before paying a consultation fee.
Do I need a family doctor in Alberta to use telehealth?+
No. Direct-pay telehealth clinics assess and prescribe without a referral, which is the main reason Canadians without a family doctor use them. Emergency care still goes through 911 or your nearest emergency department.
